Green Investment Summit 2024 held in Chihuahua
CHIHUAHUA – With the objective of promoting investment in sustainable infrastructure in Chihuahua, the “Chihuahua Green Investment Summit 2024” exhibition was held.
The meeting is held in collaboration between the State Government and the North American Development Bank (NADBank), as a strategic call for public and private sector leaders, as well as national and international financial institutions.
In her message, the Governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván, explained that through the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), tangible results have been generated in this area, with more than 50 million pesos invested in the Industrial Sustainability and Circular Economy Program.
This has enabled the integration of a portfolio of projects in Chihuahua, Juárez and Cuauhtémoc to promote clean energy, water reuse and the revaluation of plastics, tires and electronics.
Campos commented that the work being carried out by the State Energy Development Agency is making it possible to move towards more sustainable energy, with strategies such as the installation of solar panels in more than 100 State Government buildings, which involved an investment of almost 100 million pesos, among other measures.
For his part, John Beckham, CEO of NADBank, delved into the current challenges in this area, and stressed the importance of dialogue to find more and better strategies, an aspect for which events such as this one are fundamental.
The head of SIDE, Ulises Fernández Gamboa, highlighted that this meeting lays the foundations for the transition towards a carbon neutral state, and acknowledged that the vision of the Executive not only responds to the climate urgency, but also increases the state’s competitiveness.
Gamboa highlighted that this is the first event in Chihuahua designed to be low-carbon, as the use of tarpaulins, packaging, paper and first-use plastics was eliminated, in addition to offsetting emissions from flights and transportation of panelists through a reforestation campaign.
