MEXICO – With the arrival of its first cargo flight from the United States and an investment of 50 million dollars, DHL Express Mexico, the world’s leading provider of express shipping and logistics, which is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL), formally began its operations at the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) on February 28, 2023. This will allow for greater connectivity in its operational network in the country.

The aircraft used will be a Boeing 767-300 with an approximate payload capacity of 47 tons and space for 39 containers (ULDs). The transfer route for import goods will be Cincinnati-AIFA-Guadalajara-Cincinnati (CVG-NLU-GDL-CVG). The frequency of this flight is scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

With an investment of 50 million dollars, the company will increase its operational capacity from AIFA with significant improvements to offer the best experience to its customers, including the following advantages:

• Connection routes to different destinations with efficient communication links.
• Greater security with state-of-the-art equipment.
• Larger dimensions in customs facilities.
• Automation of machinery that will increase the diversity of operational personnel.

With this new flight, the import process for customers will be favored, as in the first stage, which runs until June 2023, an international shipment volume of 27% is planned for the metropolitan area of CDMX, which, along with Bajío, Querétaro, Puebla, and Sur, will be the areas most benefited by the airport’s connectivity with the Mexiquense Outer Circuit and the North Arc.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated the company’s bonded warehouse

In addition to the new flight, the ceremony, presided over by the National Executive, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, inaugurated the company’s bonded warehouse, which covers more than 5,000 m2 and will allow for better processing and distribution of international shipments received, as well as the possibility of incorporating more flights in the future.

This facility has automated distribution belts and is fully digitized, which will allow for the integration of diverse personnel, especially women, in the operation. The start-up of operations at AIFA will create 280 jobs and guarantee the execution of DHL Express at this location for the next 10 years.

The DHL Express executives reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continue investing in the country and highlighted that the $300 million committed in 2020 as a 5-year investment were repealed in 2022.

However, with the projects that the company is developing in the country, DHL will add another $300 million to reach $600 million in the period 2019-2024.

When the decree established for the cancellation of cargo operations at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) comes into effect, DHL Express will process its corresponding flights at AIFA with the highest quality standards and legal requirements.
