Grupo Modelo invests US$300 million in a plant in Guanajuato

GUANAJUATO – With a capital infusion of $300 million, Grupo Modelo and Millfoods declared the commencement of a maize facility for the manufacture of beer.

Per government authorities, the initiative will yield over 1,000 employments and will have a bearing on a million individuals, advantageous to 20,000 maize cultivators in the Bajío locality.

The facility, scheduled for inauguration in 2024 in Salamanca, Guanajuato, aspires to stand as the most cutting-edge plant in Mexico for corn processing destined for brewing grits, an adjunct component utilized in the brewing procedure.

“The arid production cycle curtails water consumption, thus expediting the shift towards a more ecologically sound and pioneering agribusiness,” relayed the Federal Government.

During the declaration of the investment, Raúl Escalante, the Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs for the Group, underscored the company’s commitment to Mexican farmers by substituting imported corn with domestic yield from the heartland of the nation, intended for beer production.

“Through this investment, we reassert our determination to bolster Mexican producers who cultivate the cereals employed in the brewing of our iconic beers, thereby perpetuating the impetus for the expansion of the country’s agribusiness,” Escalante remarked.

About Grupo Modelo

Grupo Modelo is a prominent Mexican brewing company that was founded in 1925. It is best known for producing the world-famous beer brand, Corona, along with other popular Mexican beer brands like Modelo Especial, Pacifico, and Negra Modelo. The company has played a significant role in shaping Mexico’s beer industry and has gained international recognition for its products.

In recent years, Grupo Modelo has made various investments in Mexico to expand its production capabilities and enhance its operations. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I do not have access to real-time information, and I cannot provide details about the company’s most recent investments beyond that point. However, Grupo Modelo has a history of investing in infrastructure, technology, and sustainable practices to maintain its competitive edge in the brewing industry.

One notable investment by Grupo Modelo was the construction of a new corn processing plant in Guanajuato, as mentioned in your previous text. The plant aimed to utilize advanced technology to process corn for brewing grits more efficiently while minimizing water consumption. This investment demonstrated the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable practices within the agribusiness sector.

For the most up-to-date information on Grupo Modelo’s latest investments in Mexico, I recommend checking official news sources, the company’s official website, or financial reports released by the company if available.
