This is a new suspension system that the Chinese giant will implement in its premium segment electric vehicles.

MEXICO – China’s BYD launched a new chassis suspension system on Monday as the electric vehicle manufacturer intensifies its efforts to advance in the market with premium products.

The China’s BYD DiSus Intelligent Body Control System is similar to the chassis suspension systems available in premium and luxury cars, such as Porsche’s Dynamic Chassis Control and Mercedes-Benz’s Magic Body Control.

The DiSus system will come in three variations and will be initially used in BYD’s luxury SUV, the Yangwang U8. It will also be available in BYD’s Han, Tang, and Denza models, the company said in a statement.

This move highlights a shift for BYD, whose current car products mainly focus on the mass market segment with a price below 300,000 yuan (US$43,641), as it tries to reach a more exclusive segment with its offerings.

BYD launched its first luxury car brand, Yangwang, in January with an SUV and a sports car priced over 1 million yuan.

BYD has benefited from its strategy of using self-developed batteries and drivetrain systems. Last month, the company reported an eleven-fold increase in fourth-quarter profits with a gross profit margin of 20.4% for cars and related products, far above its 3.7% margin in 2021.

Remember that: Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has announced plans to invest in Mexico over the next three years. The investment will focus on the construction of an electric bus factory in the state of Jalisco, as well as the development of charging infrastructure across the country.

The factory will initially have a production capacity of 1,000 electric buses per year, which will be aimed at the public transport sector. BYD plans to hire 2,000 employees for the factory, which will also serve as a research and development center.

The investment will also include the installation of 200 charging stations across the country in partnership with Mexican utility company CFE. The move comes as part of BYD’s broader strategy to expand its global presence in the electric vehicle market, and follows the company’s recent announcement of plans to build a new electric vehicle factory in the United States.
