Grupo Modelo invests US$300 million in a plant in Guanajuato
GUANAJUATO – With a capital infusion of $300 million, Grupo Modelo and Millfoods declared the commencement of a maize facility for the manufacture of beer.
Per government authorities, the initiative will yield over 1,000 employments and will have a bearing on a million individuals, advantageous to 20,000 maize cultivators in the Bajío locality.
The facility, scheduled for inauguration in 2024 in Salamanca, Guanajuato, aspires to stand as the most cutting-edge plant in Mexico for corn processing destined for brewing grits, an adjunct component utilized in the brewing procedure.
“The arid production cycle curtails water consumption, thus expediting the shift towards a more ecologically sound and pioneering agribusiness,” relayed the Federal Government.
During the declaration of the investment, Raúl Escalante, the Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs for the Group, underscored the company’s commitment to Mexican farmers by substituting imported corn with domestic yield from the heartland of the nation, intended for beer production.
“Through this investment, we reassert our determination to bolster Mexican producers who cultivate the cereals employed in the brewing of our iconic beers, thereby perpetuating the impetus for the expansion of the country’s agribusiness,” Escalante remarked.
