Doosan Bobcat to invest US$300 million in Interpuerto Monterrey

MONTERREY, NL – The cornerstone of the South Korean company Doosan Bobcat was laid at Interpuerto Monterrey, located in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, with an investment of US$300 million. It is projected that the plant will commence operations in 2026.

This new venture will focus on the production of Bobcat M-Series compact loaders and is expected to create between 600 and 800 new jobs in the region.

Scott Park, CEO and Vice President of Doosan Bobcat, emphasized the importance of making new investments for the company.

“We have observed significant growth across our business, and this new plant contributes to our long-term plans to increase production and meet customer demand,” he stated.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the company announced its goal to achieve LEED Silver certification and highlighted that the facility will feature state-of-the-art technology, focusing on quality, precision, and energy efficiency.

“Our investment here demonstrates our confidence in this manufacturing environment and the thriving local economy,” said Mike Ballweber, President of Doosan Bobcat North America.

The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, noted that during one of the trade missions he led in Asia, one of the companies he visited was Doosan Bobcat. Remarkably, in just eight months, the company secured the land and all necessary federal and local permits to begin the construction of its plant in Nuevo León.

The construction of this new plant represents a significant advancement for the manufacturing industry in the region and reinforces Monterrey’s position as a key hub for foreign direct investment. Beyond the economic benefits, the facility will adhere to the highest environmental and sustainability standards, promoting responsible industrial practices.

By creating between 600 and 800 jobs, the plant will not only strengthen the local labor market but also enhance technical skills and capabilities among the regional workforce. This expansion is a testament to Nuevo León’s attractiveness as an investment destination and its ability to attract and sustain large-scale projects.

The $300 million investment not only represents a substantial financial commitment but also reflects Doosan Bobcat’s strategy to consolidate its presence in the global market. The Monterrey plant will be equipped with advanced technology, enabling the company to improve its production capacity and operational efficiency, ensuring they can meet the growing demand for their high-quality products.

In summary, the laying of the cornerstone for Doosan Bobcat’s new plant in Salinas Victoria marks the beginning of an ambitious project that will have a positive impact on the local economy, job creation, and sustainable industrial development. With solid planning and the support of local authorities, this plant is set to become a fundamental pillar of the region’s industrial growth.
