BMW will invest 800 mdd to build a new electric car plant in SLP: AMLO.

San Luis Potosi: On Thursday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the German firm BMW Group intends to install an electric car production plant in the state of San Luis Potosí.

To this end, the president said that this project would mean an investment of around 800 million euros.

He also informed that he will be in San Luis Potosí in February, together with Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard, to witness the announcement of the German brand’s investment.

“I will be with Ebrard in February in San Luis Potosí because BMW of Germany decided to set up its plant. It is an investment of 800 million euros”, he commented.

In this regard, Elízabeth Arreguín, manager of Corporate Communications at BMW Group Planta San Luis Potosí, told Mexico Industry that “for the moment we have no comments. We will be able to share more information soon.

It is worth noting that this plant already assembles the first plug-in hybrid vehicle manufactured at the San Luis Potosí plant, which is destined for the global market: the BMW 330e.

In addition, the production of the BMW M2 was recently announced in San Luis Potosí, making the state a strategic facility for the BMW Group’s production network.
